Stephen Ministry


"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love."
--Ephesians 4:2

"Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ."

What is Stephen Ministry?
  • It is grounded in Jesus' command to love one another.
  • It is confidential one-on-one caring relationship of support to those who are hurting.
  • A complete training of lay persons for a caring ministry within our church congregation.
  • It enables those who receive care to grow into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Builds a strong supportive ministry between pastors and lay people who together bring God's care to others.
God is the Caregiver

"Cast all your burden on the Lord and he will sustain you."
--Psalm 55:2

Who is a Stephen Minister?
  • A Christian called by God to be a caregiver.
  • A caring Christian who really listens.
  • A child of God who walks beside a hurting person.
  • A lay person who has received 50 hours of training in how to give Christian care.
Stephen Ministry helps meet the needs of those who are:
  • looking for someone who cares.
  • in a spiritual crises.
  • new to the church.
  • hospitalized.
  • terminally ill.
  • bereaved.
  • in a job crises.
  • disabled.
  • homebound.
  • lonely.
Everyone goes through difficult times. Having someone to care, to listen and to share God's love can help you get through the stress, confusion, or loneliness you may be experiencing.
